Katherine is a born and raised Austinite. She currently resides in South Austin with husband Charlie, their two boys through foster care and their fur babies, Kash and Pickles. Katherine loves to hike, travel, cook with her husband, be silly with kids, play everyday with her dog Kash, meditate, and of course practice yoga. You can often find her hanging out at book stores or relaxing at the greenbelt.
Katherine has practiced yoga for over 10 years. Yoga helped Katherine find her educational and professional path. She studied at Texas State University and is a certified Early Childhood to 6th grade ESL teacher. After college Katherine taught pre-school for several years. It was her love for yoga and her students that inspired Katherine to incorporate yoga and mindful practices into her daily classroom curriculum. She then developed and taught her own children’s yoga program from 2010 to 2015.
Katherine has a congenital spine disorder called Spina Bifida. Yoga has helped Katherine reduce related pain and anxiety due to chronic pain and surgeries. After undergoing spine surgery in 2014, Bliss Kid Yoga was reborn as a nonprofit dedicated to providing free yoga programs for all populations and abilities. Currently, Katherine acts as Executive Director for Bliss Kid Yoga, teaches private sessions, and speaks and organizes events. She is constantly learning more about yoga as a path and deepening her own practice so that she may share the benefits with others.
